Questions about hip and pelvis procedures
- Why does a hip injection need ultrasound?
- The hip joint and the tendons around it sit deep under muscle. Ultrasound lets your physician see the target and the needle the whole time, so the medicine reaches the right spot and avoids nearby nerves and blood vessels.
- What helps outer hip pain that will not go away?
- Outer hip pain usually comes from the gluteal tendons. A loading program is the foundation, and shockwave, PRP, or percutaneous tenotomy (Tenex) are options when pain persists. Cortisone may help a flare but is not a long-term fix.
- Can orthobiologics help me avoid a hip replacement?
- For mild to moderate hip arthritis, orthobiologic injections with rehab may ease pain and help some people delay surgery. They do not regrow cartilage, and for advanced arthritis we discuss when a replacement makes more sense.
