Hand and wrist specialists

Carpal tunnel, trigger finger, thumb arthritis, tendon pain, and wrist injuries are treated in the office with releases through a tiny incision or needle, ultrasound-guided injections, and orthobiologics, with splinting and hand therapy to finish the job.
When an ultrasound-guided carpal tunnel release is recommended for severe symptoms, and what recovery involves.Featuring Dr. Gruner

Why ultrasound-guided hand procedures

The hand is packed with nerves, arteries, and tendons in a small space. Live ultrasound lets the physician see each of them and work precisely around them, so the procedure can be done through a tiny opening instead of a larger surgical incision.

Smaller openings usually mean less pain, no stitches or just one, and a faster return to gripping, typing, and sport.

What recovery looks like

Most people go home with a small bandage and use the hand for light daily tasks within a day or two, building back to full grip over the following weeks with a simple home program.

Questions about hand and wrist procedures

Is ultrasound-guided carpal tunnel release the same as surgery?
It releases the same ligament that open carpal tunnel surgery does, but through a tiny incision under ultrasound guidance and with local numbing medicine in the office.
How soon can I use my hand after trigger finger release?
Most people move the finger right away and return to light use within a day or two, with full grip returning over the following weeks.
Do you treat thumb arthritis?
Yes. Thumb (CMC) arthritis is treated with splinting, hand therapy, and ultrasound-guided injections, including orthobiologics for some people. We refer for surgery when function keeps declining.
