What is physiatry?

Our physicians trained in physical medicine and rehabilitation, also called physiatry. Physiatrists diagnose and treat muscle, joint, nerve, and spine problems without surgery, with the goal of helping you move and function better.

What is physiatry? A short introduction from Propel

Physician assistants

Propel's physician assistants work alongside our physicians in every part of your care: new-patient visits, follow-ups, shockwave therapy, injection and procedure preparation, and coordinating your rehab with your physical therapist.

  • Trained in orthopedics and sports medicine
  • Work under the supervision of a Propel physician on every plan
  • Help you get seen sooner for new problems and follow-ups
  • Your point person between visits

How our team works

  • One diagnosis, made with ultrasound

Every new problem starts with an exam and, when useful, in-office ultrasound, so the plan is built on what is actually injured.

  • Physicians and PAs, one plan

Physicians lead each plan and perform procedures. Physician assistants help you get seen sooner, handle follow-ups and shockwave sessions, and keep your rehab on track.

  • Specialists under one roof

Sports medicine, pain medicine, and rehabilitation expertise work together, so tendon, joint, nerve, and spine problems are treated by one team.
